Lavender Betsy Cocktail

makes 4 four ounce. cocktails

2 blackberries
4 oz. fresh lemon juice
4 oz. lavender syrup (recipe follows)
8 oz. high quality vodka
Muddle berries in a large cocktail shaker.  Add the rest of the ingredients with ice and shake until well chilled.  Strain into martini glasses (sugared rim is optional).  Garnish with lavender sprigs or other edible flowers to give a hint of it's floral flavor.

Lavender Syrup

1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon dried lavender buds

Bring water to a boil and add sugar, stirring until sugar completely dissolves.  Return to a boil, remove from heat, and add lavender.  Let it steep for 10-15 minutes (until lavender flavor is strong enough).  Let it cool completely then store in refrigerator.
